In the 1980 NBA playoffs, the brash, young Western Conference Milwaukee Bucks nearly took out the World Champion Seattle Supersonics. The Bucks, augmented by rookie Sidney Moncrief, had the Sonics down 3 games to 2 returning to Milwaukee.
Unfortunately the Sonics won Game Six and then finished the Bucks off in Seattle in Game Seven.
But the Bucks had served notice, and the following decade was one of the most successful in the franchise’s history.
We have a new decade in front of us now. It looks as though the Bucks will have started the decade by putting a big scare in one of the conference’s best teams.
With a crafty general manager and one of the best coaches in basketball on board, along with some good young talent, I think we can look forward to another successful run with this Milwaukee Bucks team. Maybe not the 80s, but something better than what we’ve had since then.
