To your point also, if you watch the other Badgers beside Taylor and Wilson, none of them were exactly "coming to the ball".

However, I still think if Taylor hadn't had it in his mind that he needed to take the shot, the team could have run something like an offensive set, and I simply cannot accept that with 13 seconds available in the possession, the team could not get a better look than the heave ho they got.

True... Wilson got rid of that ball like it was hot.

Now, I'm not saying it was "on Taylor". Rather, I'm saying that the mentality of the player today, because of what he hears on ESPN and other outlets, is that if he is the presumed star of the team, he is required to take the "crucial" shot.

What I was suggesting was such a mentality could be counterproductive in the sense that it encourages players to heave horrendous shots when other avenues may be open.

Go back and watch the play again. It wasn't on Taylor. He drew the top two guys in the zone out well beyond the 3-point line and passed the ball to Wilson.

If Wilson does anything other than what he does (drives, or passes to anyone but Taylor) the Badgers end up on the line, with a dunk, or a wide open jumper.

Instead, Wilson panicked, and gave the ball right back to Taylor, who was already double teamed, and had no choice but to shoot, with the clock under 6 seconds at that point.
