Who to blame/credit for Game 1 of the NBA Finals

I have calculated and ranked below the Win Contributions from last night’s Game One of the 2010 NBA Finals.

As you can see, Boston’s Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo, and especially Ray Allen, had very poor games.  Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant of the Lakers had superior games.  Gasol was the MVP of Game One, followed closely by Bryant.  Monster, monster games for both of those two.  For the Celtics, only Paul Pierce and Rasheed Wallace had good games.  The “Allen Brothers” were absolutely brutal for the Celtics, and if they continue to get outplayed to the extent they were last night… Good Night, Beantown.  In fact, I would go so far as to say “How goes Ray Allen goes the 2010 NBA Finals”.

I can see Gasol winning Finals MVP! Although I only saw the second half of the game, it felt like Andrew Bynum and Ron Artest played better than their finals win contribution would indicate.

He would have to overcome the common media misperception that Kobe Bryant is the more valuable player. The numbers say it is, and has been, Pau Gasol who has been driving the Lakers bus for quite some time now.
