Who’s “unhappy” in Milwaukee? Let’s play “Clue”…

I read the following this afternoon on FanHouse:

“The same source added that most of the players on the roster have been either drafted or acquired by the Bucks, with few actually choosing to join the team. Though the source wouldn’t name any players specifically, they insisted that several players are unhappy in Milwaukee and would be playing elsewhere if it were up to them”

Who are the unhappy ones to whom the article refers?  Let’s play the classic board game “Clue” to reveal the identities.

The “source” (Deep Throat, no doubt) referred to those who came to Milwaukee through the draft or by trade, in other words, through compulsion.  So lets eliminate those who signed with Milwaukee of their own volition.

Andrew Bogut
Earl Boykins
Jon Brockman
Carlos Delfino
Keyon Dooling
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Drew Gooden
Ersan Ilyasova
Brandon Jennings
Corey Maggette
Luc Moute
John Salmons
Larry Sanders

Okay, now let’s go ahead and eliminate CDR as well.  Unless that whole “I’ve always been a big Bucks fan” thing he did when he was traded here was some Hollywood level acting, I believe he is happy to be here.

Andrew Bogut
Earl Boykins
Jon Brockman
Carlos Delfino
Keyon Dooling
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Drew Gooden
Ersan Ilyasova
Brandon Jennings
Corey Maggette
Luc Moute
John Salmons
Larry Sanders

Now lets eliminate Larry Sanders.  He gives me the impression he’s happy to have been picked in the first round.  And Andrew Bogut reupped with the Bucks (although at one point I know friends who had met him said he was “lonely” for Australia early in his career… but that’s understandable and not the same as wanting to play somewhere else).

Andrew Bogut
Earl Boykins
Jon Brockman
Carlos Delfino
Keyon Dooling
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Drew Gooden
Ersan Ilyasova
Brandon Jennings
Corey Maggette
Luc Moute
John Salmons
Larry Sanders

Now, we are left with Brockman, Delfino, Jennings, Maggette, and Moute.  The source said “several” of the Bucks were unhappy. But this seems like too many.  Is Brockman unhappy?  Actually, he’s a West Coast boy and he’s been forced to play out of position all year.  I’m going to put him in there.

How about Delfino?  He would have a legitimate gripe, because he is Argentine, and Milwaukee is trying to be cosmopolitan, but it isn’t quite there yet.  At the same time, his career has blossomed here.  I’m taking him off the list. (Update: I just did some reading.  In a technical sense, Delfino “signed” with the Bucks.  The season prior to joining the Bucks, Delfino played in Russia, with his rights held by Toronto.  Toronto made a qualifying offer to Delfino, but he knew they were sending him to Milwaukee before he signed the deal, which he was under no obligation to sign.  So in a sense, he “signed” with Milwaukee.)

Andrew Bogut
Earl Boykins
Jon Brockman
Carlos Delfino
Keyon Dooling
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Drew Gooden
Ersan Ilyasova
Brandon Jennings
Corey Maggette
Luc Moute
John Salmons
Larry Sanders

So that leaves Brockman, Moute, Maggette, and Jennings.  Moute, however, basically made his bones in Milwaukee.  The Bucks plucked him in the second round and gave him a career.  Would he be that ungrateful?  Where else would he have blossomed as he has here?  I’m removing him as well.

Thus we are left with Brockman and two I undoubtedly think are unhappy here:  Jennings and Maggette.  Altogether, that’s three, which of course is more than two, so it could qualify as “several” as opposed to a “couple”.

Jennings, we knew Milwaukee wasn’t his first choice.  He made his feelings somewhat clear in his infamous post draft video.  However, I will cut him some slack.  He’s young and underage.  What the fuck would such a guy do in Milwaukee? (I seriously saw him at a high school basketball game last year… I’m not kidding).

But I cut no such slack to Maggette.  In fact he was the first name I thought of when I read that Fanhouse blurb.  Admit it, your mind went straight to Maggette too.  What did it take him, 3 months to finally arrive in town for his post trade press conference?  Classy.  Besides, if he wants out, I’d tell him the same thing Vince Lombardi told the sucky Packers when he arrived in Green Bay.  “There are planes and trains leaving here every day, my friend… if you want out, we’ll find you a spot on one of them.”

I’ve been pushing a get rid of Maggette trade anyway.  He doesn’t play the Milwaukee Way to begin with, and he’s shot.  Good riddance.  I’d be on the phone spinning deals while he still has some of his overvalue left.

Funny enough, I kind of miss Maggs. Grass is always greener, etc.
