So far, Russell Wilson far outperforming Andrew Luck

I used Relative QBER (What is QBER?) to compare the performance so far this season of Wisconsin’s Russell Wilson and Stanford’s Andrew Luck.  Thus far, Wilson is far outperforming Luck.

Russell Wilson has posted a QBER of 37.26 (excluding South Dakota game).  The defenses he has faced have allowed an opponent average QBER of 15.09.  Thus, Wilson has posted a Relative QBER of +22.17.

Andrew Luck has posted a QBER of 31.18.  The defenses he has faced have allowed an opponent average QBER of 17.28.  Thus, Luck has posted a Relative QBER of +13.90.

To date, it appears I was COMPLETELY wrong about Russell Wilson.  His QBER at North Carolina State was terrible, but since coming to Wisconsin he has protected the football, and he has been incredibly accurate.  Plus, he is an incredible athlete who can make plays with his feet.

Wilson will get his toughest test tonight vs the Michigan State Spartans.  We will see how he will fare.  But nothing can take away from the exceptional start he has had in his Wisconsin career.  I cannot imagine how an NFL team could pass on him.
